Smart rack PDUs collect valuable power information in data centers, including real-time power information at the outlet and in the rack, as well as environmental data such as temperature and humidity.
To meet the complex and unique power requirements of data center equipment racks, Raritan’s custom program allows customers to select PDU options in various categories, such as plug type, power cord length, outlet type, number of outlets, voltage, current, and single-phase or three-phase Wye or Delta configurations.
“We can meet all of our customers’ needs through Raritan’s custom processes,” says Jami M. Moore of JEM Computer, a Raritan partner. “We can now meet almost any customer requirement and configuration, including voltage, amperage, plugs, sockets, and form factor. One of our customers, for example, needs a combination of C19, C13, and 5-15R sockets in their PDU configuration to power their blade servers, 1U servers, and other IT equipment in their rack cabinets.”
According to David Wood (Director of Operations and Quality), custom capability has helped streamline Raritan’s supply chain and manufacturing processes, benefiting customers, business partners, and the company. “Our custom process requires our engineering teams to simplify designs and increase configurability by developing reusable building blocks in product design. As a result, manufacturing intervals have been reduced and factory responsiveness has increased, allowing us to deliver customized products to customers quickly. Raritan’s business partners have the advantage of having the broadest portfolio of PDUs to offer their customers.”
Raritan's smart rack PDUs, marketed under the award-winning Dominion® PX brand, provide unique energy insights to help answer key data center questions, such as "where should servers be placed for optimal efficiency?" and "which rack has available capacity?" Customers gain a better understanding of how much energy their data centers consume and how, enabling them to take steps to improve efficiency and track progress.
Raritan's portfolio of smart rack PDUs is the largest in the industry, including single-phase, three-phase, output-regulated, output-switched, and inline power meters to meet the needs of diverse IT environments. These range from server rooms with legacy equipment and basic power strips to high-density installations equipped with high-power blade servers and up to six different power supplies. Raritan smart rack PDUs are available worldwide through Raritan's channel partners and
incorporate integrated control, security, and networking capabilities. They are designed to collect comprehensive energy information, including voltage, current, power factor, apparent power (kVA), active power (watts), kilowatt-hours (kWh), and energy consumption with accurate billing. To make it easier for data center operators to view energy activity, they can access real-time information on a local display in the rack and from a remote user interface via a web browser.
Custom-built smart rack PDUs are fully compatible with Raritan's Power IQ™ energy management software for analyzing energy consumption and tracking trends.
