Windstream's carrier solutions provide up to 100G broadband transport services across the United States, leveraging Windstream's long-haul DWDM core network. Carriers, content/high-tech providers, and other network operators use Windstream Carrier solutions to provide fiber-based broadband transport services to support their growing traffic demands.

With the deployment of the Infinera Intelligent Transport Network™, Windstream has reached the following milestones in its network expansion plans for this year:

• 12 new 100G markets, including: Buffalo, Denver, Houston, San Antonio, Oklahoma City and Tulsa
• 3,900 additional miles of fiber route with Infinera's 500G super-channel technology
• 20-day express installation warranty for customers taking advantage of the basic long-distance network.

During the remainder of 2015, Windstream plans to expand its 100G service to seven additional markets, including Minneapolis and Louisville in September, and add 5,600 route miles to its long-haul core network, providing diverse routing options from major cities.

By the end of the year, Windstream's Carrier solutions expect to be able to offer Carrier customers:

• Waveform services from 1G to 100G over 121,000 miles of fiber
• 100G service in 44 markets
• Standardized 10G pricing across its extensive regional and metropolitan fiber networks in 33 states, available on the Windstream Carrier website

"Carrier customers are increasingly looking to Windstream's Carrier solutions to meet their transportation service needs. Windstream is uniquely positioned to provide long-haul and metropolitan services, serving both Tier 1 and tertiary markets, often across diverse transportation routes," said Joe Scattareggia, Vice President of Sales for the Content and Carrier verticals at Windstream.

"By deploying Infinera's intelligent transport network, Windstream has significantly increased the capacity of its network infrastructure to meet the large data transport needs of its customers," commented Buddy Bayer, Vice President of Transport Engineering for Windstream. "Infinera's DTN-X platform positions Windstream as a reliable, leading national provider of low-latency 100G services."

"The selection of Windstream's DTN-X platform reinforces the value of Infinera's smart transport network architecture," commented Bob Jandro, senior vice president of worldwide sales at Infinera. "It's clear that, in addition to the need for scale and efficiency, network operators value the ability to turn time into a competitive weapon by delivering the high-capacity services their customers want, faster and more reliably than their competitors."

Infinera's DTN-X platform offers 100G coherent transmission capacity over 500G super-channels, with a large-scale design to support future terabit super-channels. These high-capacity super-channels are enabled by Infinera's well-known 500G photonic integrated circuits (PICs) – the only vendor currently offering 500G transmission capacity from a single line board, while consuming minimal power and space.
