This dual cable access proposal means that Interoute can deliver up to nx100G of capacity to customers in as little as 4 weeks by extending large-scale bandwidth services to customers via protected routes, using its own fiber optic network.

SEA-ME-WE 5 is a submarine fiber optic cable system currently under construction, designed to carry up to 24 Tbps of capacity between Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. With a presence in both European locations, Interoute will be able to offer greater resilience and diversity across its network. Its customers can benefit from its comprehensive portfolio of connectivity services, including dark fiber, wavelength, Carrier Ethernet, managed bandwidth, and IP traffic.

Furthermore, as a member of the Open Hub Med (OHM) Data Centre consortium, Interoute has invested in a new carrier-neutral facility in the Palermo region and is ready to start carrying the wave of new traffic as soon as it arrives in Europe.

Renzo Ravaglia, EVP, Service Provider, at Interoute, commented: “Interoute’s pan-European network is at the heart of the European digital economy. Interoute is the first service provider to offer dual-entry backhaul network services from SEA-ME-WE 5 to Europe via its Points of Presence (PoPs) in Marseille and Palermo. With this new investment, we are ensuring that European businesses can continue to benefit from the enormous business opportunities that the internet has opened up in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.”.
