At Nexica's data center, one of the most secure in Europe, a 1250 kVA medium-voltage transformer substation and a 400/800 kW UPS (uninterruptible power supply) room have been built to support the growth of its cloud infrastructure. Simultaneously, 40 low-density racks have been upgraded to medium-density, and 20 medium-density racks have been converted to high-density. This has resulted in increased power capacity for Nexica and a reduction in energy costs, achieving a 15% decrease in the price per kWh and improved energy efficiency thanks to a reduction in the Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) from 1.54 to 1.43. These improvements have enabled the company to increase cloud availability and enhance its operational capacity.
Jordi Mas, CEO of Nexica, states: “The expansion of our data center will allow us to improve services to our customers and contribute to optimizing energy efficiency through new technologies.”.
It is also worth highlighting the implementation of management software for monitoring the electrical, mechanical, and security aspects, and a solution for cooling the data processing center based on a hot aisle enclosure for proper heat evacuation and energy savings, which leads to a lower PUE.
