The goal is to create a multi-vendor environment using core components of Sony's Networked Live ecosystem, particularly the Nevion VideoIPath media orchestration platform. This component of Sony's Networked Live offering is used by broadcasters and telecom service providers worldwide in applications as diverse as contribution, remote production, studios, mobile units, and ground-to-cloud-to-ground (GCCG). Nevion VideoIPath is also an open system that allows for integration into existing environments, with interfaces for any device and equipment, and support for existing control surfaces.
The latest versions of Nevion VideoIPath software will be deployed in this IP technology lab to demonstrate its functionality for managing broadcast operations, with an emphasis on enabling workflows that leverage the flexibility of IP, even in hybrid SDI/IP environments, as well as resource orchestration and monitoring capabilities. In this multi-vendor IP lab environment, Nevion VideoIPath will provide northbound interfaces (including legacy protocols) to support customer-preferred systems and control surfaces, as well as multiple southbound controllers for network devices and production equipment.
Unitecnic, part of Grup Mediapro, and Nevion, a subsidiary of the Sony Group, are strengthening their collaboration with a new initiative to create a permanent IP technology lab focused on broadcast applications. Building on the previous proof of concept demonstrating an IP transmission system built around the Sony Networked Live ecosystem, this new IP technology lab, located at the Mediapro Group's headquarters in Madrid, will enable system integration testing, technical training for clients, and the exploration of innovative use cases for on-site, remote, and cloud-based broadcast productions using IP technology.
