“The RS2414+ and RS2414RP+ are designed for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with increasing needs for performance, capacity, and reliability,” said Chad Chiang, Product Manager at Synology Inc. “The advanced hardware design and reliability features of these NAS devices perfectly address those needs,” Chiang added.
The RS2414+ and RS2414RP+ are designed to meet the growing demand for storage system performance. Powered by a 2.13 GHz dual-core processor, the RS2414+ and RS2414RP+ deliver high performance with read and write speeds of 339MB/s and 209MB/s, respectively, under a RAID 5 configuration in a Windows® environment with link aggregation. Furthermore, the RS2414+ and RS2414RP+ enhance their multitasking capabilities with 2GB of DDR3 RAM, double the capacity of their predecessor. The NAS memory is also expandable to 4GB for improved efficiency.
Affordable scalability is a key feature for small and medium-sized businesses. Connected to the RX1214 and RX1214RP expansion units with a specially designed cable that ensures maximum performance, the RS2414+ and RS2414RP+ can easily expand their capacity up to 96 TB.
With a comprehensive and reliable set of mechanisms, the RS2414+ and RS2414RP+ guarantee users uninterrupted availability, which is crucial for all businesses. Both units are equipped with passive CPU cooling technology, a redundant fan system, hot-swappable drives, and four LAN ports with failover support, which together eliminate the single point of failure and ensure continuous system operation. The RS2414RP+ and RX1214RP even incorporate redundant power supplies to guarantee even greater system reliability.
The RS2414+ and RS2414RP+ run on DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.3, an intuitive, web-based operating system that includes a wide range of applications to enhance workplace productivity. DSM 4.2, the latest version, is the only NAS operating system to have won both the Best Choice Award and the Media's Choice Award at Computex 2013.
