The Dominion SX II builds on the success of its predecessor, the Dominion SX, one of the most widely deployed serial console servers. The SX is used daily by IT and network administrators to manage over half a million serial devices, including network switches, routers, firewalls, servers, power distribution units (PDUs), and telecommunications equipment.

Because the Dominion SX II controls IT devices through its serial ports, IT specialists can securely use the console server to control and manage any connected serial device, even when the network is offline. In the event of a device becoming unresponsive, administrators can power cycle individual devices using the SX II and Raritan's Smart Rack PX PDUs.

The 13 Dominion SX II models come with dual power supplies (AC or DC), dual Gigabit LAN connections with automatic failover, and multiple rack access methods. Models with an internal modem are also available. Here are some of the Dominion SX II's highlights:
• A more powerful hardware platform in a 1U rackmount device.
A 1 GHz CPU, eight times the RAM, and up to 8 GB of flash storage.
• Supports up to 10 sessions per port, for a total of up to 200 sessions.
Port configuration is 15 to 23 times faster, improving the capacity for simultaneous connections, connection speed, and serial processing.
• Full CLI access and automatic configuration for quick setup and configuration changes.
The SX II offers full CLI access and management via SSH, Telnet, and a web browser, with convenient direct port access methods. Automatic installation and configuration are also available via USB flash drive or TFTP server.
• Automatic detection of DTE/DCE ports.
For quick installations, the SX II supports direct Cat5 connections to Cisco (and other RJ-45 compatible devices), eliminating the need for cable deployment.
• Military-grade and government-grade security features.
The SX II supports 256-bit AES and FIPS 140-2 certified encryption, LDAP, RADIUS, TACACS, Active Directory authentication, and IPv6 networking.
• Provides multiple local rack access options:
a traditional serial RJ45 port, a mini-USB port for laptop connection, and a DVI and USB KVM-based console port for connecting to a rack-mounted keyboard tray or even a KVM switch.
• 3G/4G support;
optional connection to an external modem for emergency access.
For complete enterprise visibility and access to the entire IT team, Dominion SX II console servers, as well as Raritan KVM over IP switches (keyboard, video, mouse), can be added into a single command and control network with Raritan's centralized server management solution - CommandCenter®.

The Dominion SX II – available in 4, 8, 16, 32, and 48-port models – will be available worldwide in early September through Raritan's extensive channel and reseller network. The SX II is easy to deploy, allowing you to quickly configure access and manage IT equipment.
