The company was one of the first vendors to participate in the new Network IPS Device Quarterly Testing Program, where IPS devices less than three months old were tested against network vulnerabilities.
In both preliminary and final tests, the IPS-1205 StoneGate demonstrated its effectiveness, performing two tests based on a set of recently discovered high-severity attacks and other remotely executable vulnerabilities.
In initial tests conducted by ICSA Laboratories, the products demonstrated effectiveness ranging from 59.4% to 78.1%. After passing this initial test, and before undergoing a second round, the vendors were allowed to update their products to ensure optimal protection against current security threats. In the second test, after these improvements, the various devices offered effectiveness ranging from 81.3% to 90.6%.
The StoneGate IPS-1205 device obtained the best range of scores in both tests, with 78.1% in the first and 90.6% in the final.
