Designed to deliver superior low-latency performance, the AL15SE Series supports a 12 Gbit/s dual-port SAS interface to optimize host transfer speeds. All models utilize an efficient 15 mm, 2.5-inch form factor. Advanced Format models support native 4K and emulated 512e sector technologies, increasing areal density in capacities from 600 GB to 2,400 GB and featuring a 15 percent increase in sustained transfer speed compared to the previous generation AL14SE. New 512n sector technology models increase areal density in capacities ranging from 300 GB to 1,200 GB.
"The new AL15SE Series of HDDs offers higher capacity per spindle for optimal use in traditional performance-oriented IT applications and mission-critical hybrid storage platforms. In addition, IT operations with read-intensive applications can benefit from lower latency." “This is a significant improvement,” says Noriaki Katakura, General Manager of the HDD Business Unit at Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH. “
The AL15SE series features optional Sanitize Instant Erase (SIE) models and leverages Toshiba’s persistent write cache technology for robust data integrity in the event of a sudden power loss. These models are designed for Tier 1 mission-critical servers and storage systems, including hybrid storage platforms, which can benefit from both low latency and storage capacity up to 2,400 GB.”
Storage for Artificial Intelligence: architecture, bottlenecks and new generation of SSDs
The acceleration of artificial intelligence (AI) projects—especially in training large foundational models and deploying inference at scale—is redefining data center storage architecture. Just five years ago, the challenge was primarily...
