DSM 7.2.2 brings comprehensive improvements to system reliability. Full system restore from C2 Storage via Hyper Backup is now four times faster than before, significantly reducing the enterprise RTO. Hybrid Share folders and data transfer activities are more resilient after abnormal server power events. Additionally, SSO login availability has been improved by increasing support for Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory).
Advanced Data Security
: Data security is also enhanced in DSM 7.2.2. This update strengthens the file system's ability to automatically repair bitflip errors and improves the reliability of adaptive multi-factor authentication. Additionally, the security of immutable snapshots has been reinforced by addressing a potential risk that allowed administrators to unlock snapshots by manually changing their attributes.
Maximizing Media Processing Efficiency:
DSM 7.2.2 introduces a strategic shift by offloading media processing to clients and mobile devices, leveraging widespread media decoding and encoding capabilities to reduce unnecessary server resource usage. Simply by installing the Synology Image Assistant Extension and desktop application, users can now experience up to 2.5 times faster thumbnail processing performance¹ compared to server-side processing. This performance improvement scales as the number of concurrent users increases.
