“Schools continue to adopt new technologies to engage their students and improve teaching methods. They need a dedicated, easy-to-use solution that reduces WiFi interference, as large numbers of students are working online,” explains Crowley Wu, Vice President of Networking SBU at Zyxel. “With our new WiFi 6 (11ax) access points, slow download times and network fluctuations will be a thing of the past, so both schools and students can unlock their digital potential.”.
WiFi 6: The Key to the Future of Learning.
Built with new OFDMA and spatial reuse (BSS coloring) technology, the WAX650S allows multiple users to connect simultaneously without straining bandwidth. This results in more efficient connections and a more effective WiFi network that can send more transmissions without any delay or contention.
This is important in a classroom, as students often have different bandwidth requirements, from interactive learning programs to downloading multimedia teaching materials, but each one needs to access the network at the same speed.
Overcoming Interference with a Smart Antenna
Despite the numerous advantages of the new WiFi 6 standard, access points can still experience co-channel interference issues, as large numbers of WiFi devices connect over the same channel. This is especially true in high-density environments such as classrooms. Zyxel has designed the WAX650S with smart antenna technology that, by utilizing spatial reuse technology, boosts network performance and overcomes interference more effectively than other WiFi 6 access points.
In addition to its smart antenna, the WAX650S AP supports 5Gb wireless networks and standard multi-gig WiFi 6 speeds for a faster wireless environment. A dedicated scanning radio allows for continuous monitoring of network issues without impacting WiFi quality, while the optimized hardware design enables the access point to better address wireless interference challenges.
The 11ax AP series also integrates with Zyxel's NebulaFlex solution and includes a one-year pro-pack license. By integrating with Nebula, schools can take advantage of cloud networking and remotely manage their system without needing a dedicated IT team.
For schools with limited budgets, there's an option to try the Nebula Basic package without a license. Alternatively, the Nebula Professional package offers more advanced features, such as wireless network monitoring and reporting, which help schools diagnose Wi-Fi status and troubleshoot issues quickly. The perpetual subscription option eliminates ongoing licensing costs, helping schools keep their network running smoothly with flexible subscription options to fit their budget.
