The Narda PMM 9010 digital receiver is fully modular, allowing the frequency range of the main unit (10 Hz – 30 MHz) to be extended to 3 GHz (PMM 9030), 6 GHz (PMM9060) and up to 18 GHz with the new PMM 9180 model, simply by adding one of these external modules.
All modules are true EMI receivers and comply with CISPR and MIL-STD specifications. Lightweight and compact, they can be installed inside the anechoic or shielded chamber, connected directly to the measurement antenna, and mounted to the mast using an adapter. The connection to the main PMM 9010 unit—located in the control room—is made via a high-speed fiber optic link. The rechargeable Li-Ion battery provides up to four hours of operation.
This excellent solution is the result of Narda's advanced expertise in miniaturized RF and digital design. The most obvious feature of the PM system is the ability to replace coaxial cable with fiber optic cable, which offers numerous advantages:
- Elimination of signal losses due to coaxial cable and connections.
- Improved receiver dynamic range without the need for expensive preamplifiers.
- Reduced overall system uncertainty: no contributions from cables or connectors (losses, mismatches, aging).
- Elimination of interfering signals that might be picked up along the coaxial cable run.
- Elimination of dispersion caused by coaxial cable.
- Costly coaxial cable calibrations are no longer necessary.
- Compared to coaxial cables, the versatility of fiber optics simplifies installation processes, even when sharing the route with power cables, and allows for much longer runs (up to 100 m). Furthermore, fiber optics are very convenient.
The receiver includes the PMM Emission Suite software, which allows complete control of the tests and incorporates adjustment functions for the mast and turntable.
