The device addresses the numerous new application areas in the field of EMF security, which will soon present new requirements in terms of performance, speed, and flexibility. In addition to the 5G/5G-Advanced and 6G standards, this includes, above all, developments such as TDD and Massive-MIMO, beamforming, and dynamic traffic, as well as all the market needs that will arise from them in the future.
It incorporates a spectrogram (frequency over time) function, which measures up to 8 GHz with its isotropic antenna and is already the domain of the new 5G/6G standards with their new usable frequency bands.
The user pays for the features they use. SignalShark EMF can be expanded at any time with new features via a software option.
For example, if a network operator needs to demonstrate the authorization of a location, they can remotely initiate an EMF-compliant traffic simulation using a smartphone with SignalShark EMF. The result is extrapolated in real time, stored with a georeference, and displayed as a percentage of the standard: the measurement report is ready.
Narda merges the separate areas of EMF security and RF testing and measurement into a single device via a firmware update. This means that existing SignalShark owners can perform basic EMF measurements with a firmware update. For more complex and highly automated measurements, such as 4G or 5G decoders, Narda offers numerous additional software options.
Narda customers can continue using all their existing SRM antennas, including all cables, seamlessly with the SignalShark. They can also measure higher frequencies and benefit from intuitive operation and modern features such as spectrograms and other storage and documentation options. If they wish to upgrade to 8 GHz, they can purchase the 8 GHz antenna.
Advantages:
Among the most notable are its very high measurement speed, automatic limit value evaluation, high radiation resistance, continuous calibration, voice feedback, SCPI control, and, last but not least, a user-friendly EMF interface. This, along with very fast measurements and a high degree of automation, ensures accurate and reliable measurements with minimal risk of error. Furthermore, the SignalShark EMF offers the possibility of performing parallel measurements.
Its ease of use is achieved through a Windows-like interface with modern tiles or windows on the screen. These guide the user through the menu with clear illustrations, brief explanatory texts, and concise instructions.
Accredited Calibration:
Every SignalShark EMF is delivered calibrated. An accredited calibration will be performed in early 2026. Calibrated antenna and cable data guarantee highly accurate and traceable field strength measurements. Furthermore, Narda indicates, importantly, the measurement uncertainty, including the cable and antenna, which is mandatory as an official measure of measurement quality for every measurement report that must be legally valid in court.
The SignalShark is designed for outdoor use in harsh environments, is very rugged (IP54), and is equipped with very high radiation resistance of up to 200 V/m. It is also MIL-certified.
And to deal with the potential conflict between the extremely high sensitivity needed for interference detection or radio monitoring, and resistance to overmodulation in very high electromagnetic fields, the SignalShark has a switchable internal attenuator of up to 30 dB.
