The MW8219A, which covers the PCS and AWS cellular frequency ranges, provides field personnel with a test system that can help ensure optimal network performance as well as locate PIM faults before intermodulation distortion adversely affects signal transmission.

PIM Master is designed to work with Anritsu's S332E/S362E Site Master, MS2712E/MS2713E Spectrum Master, and MT8212E/MT8213E Cell Master handheld analyzers, as well as the MT8221B/MT8222A/MT8222B BTS Master handheld analyzers. Field personnel can use PIM Master to generate high-power tones in the transmit band of a base station and dedicate the handheld analyzers solely to measuring third-, fifth-, or seventh-order intermodulation products in the receiver band on the same cable. The GPS option available on all analyzers also allows for recording the measurement location.

A unique feature of the MW8219A is its 40W test capability, compared to alternative methods that only measure at 20W. Using twice the power allows the PIM Master to pinpoint intermittent faults caused by corrosion, heavy traffic loads, or changing weather conditions. It also enables users to locate faults in a multi-carrier antenna system or detect microscopic arcing in connectors.
