This new version will aid in the development and production of stable and secure eCall modules, while improving reliability.
eCall is a European Commission project designed to provide rapid emergency assistance to victims of car accidents. When an accident occurs, the in-vehicle system (IVS) detects the collision and automatically or manually places an emergency call to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). This call provides information such as the location of the accident, the current time, the number of people in the vehicle, and the vehicle model, as well as the Minimum Set of Data (MSD), which is then converted into an audio message for transmission.
The PSAP operator confirms this information from the IVS and can speak to the vehicle occupants by voice, as well as notify the necessary emergency services and rescue teams. Installation of the eCall system will be mandatory for all new vehicles sold in the EU from April 2018.
By achieving 98% coverage of eCall compliance test cases, Anritsu's MD8475A signal analyzer with an eCall test function will play a key role in system implementation.
In addition to focusing on connected car testing solutions, such as eCall, with the MD8475A, Anritsu is also bidding with support for test environments and test cases for similar security systems, such as the Russian ERA-GLONASS.
