The device features a touchscreen with a highly intuitive user interface that simplifies this type of testing. It is modular, and its software-defined functionality offers future-proof flexibility for wireless technologies, including LTE, GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 3G/HSPA, and WLAN.
Increased productivity and reduced time to market for new products are the aspects that RF and baseband development engineers in broadband and cellular wireless communications will most appreciate. These advantages will offer significant benefits to engineers working with LTE modules and components, given their tight network development deadlines in the coming months.
It can incorporate two signal generators for intermodulation and other key tests
Because both generation and analysis are integrated into the same instrument, the need to purchase and operate separate equipment is eliminated, thus reducing the overall investment. The platform also supports two independent generators, enabling sensitivity and reception blocking tests, MIMO simulation, and intermodulation analysis of amplifiers, mixers, and other components. Its touchscreen and intuitive user interface provide quick and easy access to a full range of measurements, accelerating testing times for experienced users and allowing new users to quickly become proficient.
Bill Borrows, Aeroflex's director of business development, says of this new series, "The 7000 Series offers the most complete and user-friendly RF test system available on the market." "It shares a platform with our already popular 7100 LTE Tester, enabling seamless use of user-developed routines from development to conformance testing and manufacturing. It is the only test platform on the market that can incorporate two independent signal generators and a vector signal analyzer in a single unit."
The 7000 Series covers a frequency range of 1 MHz to 6 GHz, with an instantaneous bandwidth of 90 MHz in both generation and analysis, allowing it to support multiple broadband wireless communication standards. For higher bandwidths, intelligent spectrum stitching can be applied.
Both the standard and optional second generators have a typical phase noise level of -115 dBc/Hz at 20 kHz on a 2 GHz carrier, equivalent to the characteristics of the best benchtop generators. The vector signal generator includes a standard waveform emulation library for all cellular telephony standards, as well as a 2 GB arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) with a very intuitive waveform generation package that allows the user to develop and reproduce their own waveforms. Furthermore, waveforms generated in software packages such as Matlab and similar programs can be imported and stored on the computer for use in the AWG.
