Mounted on a balcony, wall, or pole, the outdoor receiver utilizes exclusive 360-degree field-of-view technology and advanced algorithms from Nokia Bell Labs to enhance performance. With the ability to create a digital fingerprint of available radio signals, it can identify changes and quickly switch between signal sources to ensure the best possible connection is maintained between the base station and the receiver. This, combined with the use of high-gain antennas (up to 27 dBi), creates the industry's first millimeter-wave FWA solution that operates in non-line-of-sight conditions, is easy for the customer to install, and allows operators to avoid costly traces.
The Nokia FastMile 5G mmWave receiver will be available in early 2024. It joins Nokia's extensive portfolio of on-premises equipment, which includes 4G and 5G gateways and receivers for both indoor and outdoor use.
