Given that regulations vary by region, this represents a step forward for the automotive industry towards the implementation of a single V2X platform on a global scale.

The company also offers the CarCom platform, which allows for the modular integration of various connectivity solutions. This solution fulfills the objective of enabling direct communication between the vehicle and the new technologies that will shape the future of mobility (high-precision positioning, digitally tuned antennas, and the new 5G modules).

Connected car use cases with C-V2X and 5G technology

During MWC 2019, and within the framework of the 5G Connected Car pilot project of 5G Barcelona, Ficosa, together with the other partners of the consortium Telefónica, SEAT, Mobile World Capital, ETRA and i2Cat, showcases three use cases of a connected car with 5G, and with the C-V2X technology that the company itself has developed, in a real city environment for safer driving.

1. Pedestrian detection at a crosswalk: the traffic light will detect the presence of the pedestrian at the crosswalk through a thermal camera and will warn vehicles that will display a warning message on the dashboard if necessary.

2. Cyclist detection when turning right: The bicycle, equipped with connectivity and an ultra-precise location solution, communicates with nearby cars to inform them of its location. In the event of a potential collision, cars will display a warning message on their dashboards.

3. Detection of a car stopped on the road with low visibility: the car stopped in an area of the road with low visibility activates the hazard lights and automatically warns the other vehicles approaching it with a message on the dashboard.
