Digi now has routers that include 5Ge/Gigabit LTE (Cat 18) radios, Band 71 and CBRS connectivity, 5G readiness, and are FirstNet Ready™.
On Digi-compatible devices, there's added flexibility with the standalone Digi CORE® connection module: there's no need to replace the entire unit, just upgrade the Digi CORE to the required LTE standard.
While designed for different applications, the new Digi TX54, TX64, and EX12 models are built on a solid foundation shared with the rest of Digi's routers, including:
• Digi Accelerated Linux (DAL), Digi's secure operating system for the most demanding business- and mission-critical applications. This new feature adds multicast, expands router protocols, and—crucial for transport applications—offers dual APN functionality and supports dynamic DNS updates.
• Edge Compute, as each router comes with embedded Python, allowing users to add intelligence to the device, from simple scripts to fully developed IoT applications.
• Digi Remote Manager® for centralized device deployment, monitoring, and control. With Digi Remote Manager, organizations can easily automate firmware, software, and configuration updates for all field units, achieving comprehensive asset tracking and regulatory compliance, including security protection. Also available as an Android or iPhone mobile app.
Digi TrustFence®, the embedded security framework, protects internal and external I/O ports to prevent unwanted local intrusion. Digi TrustFence also offers device identity management and data authentication options. Digi TrustFence uses the latest encryption protocols for over-the-air (OTA) and in-motion data transmissions to ensure the integrity of data passing over a network.
Designed for transportation, intelligent traffic systems (ITS), and public safety applications, the Digi TX54 and Digi TX64 aim to make smart cities a reality. In traffic systems, these routers lay the foundation for the connectivity needed for traffic monitoring and optimization, supporting the capabilities of autonomous and connected vehicles in the future. Dual cellular and dual Wi-Fi make them ideal for in-transit vehicle connectivity by eliminating network downtime with immediate cellular fault tolerance and providing simultaneous connectivity, firewalls for passengers and administrators to meet the demands of modern drivers without jeopardizing transit organization operations.
Furthermore, the Digi TX64, with its dual Gigabit LTE (Cat 18) radios, is 5G-ready as part of AT&T's 5G rollout.
Essentially, it's an industrial computer with a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor and added routing capabilities. These features create new capabilities beyond the traditional router for local file streaming and storage, facilitating applications such as on-site camera monitoring, emergency response teams, and Wi-Fi for in-flight transit applications.
Digi built the EX12—and the advanced Digi EX15 model already available—for enterprise and in-house retail use cases. These offerings give users options, ensuring they get the right features for their application needs at the right value. The new Digi EX12 is Digi's most affordable cellular extender for low- to mid-bandwidth applications, including business continuity, point-of-sale and digital signage connectivity, and primary LTE connectivity in kiosks, ATMs, and lottery machines.
The Digi TX54 and TX64 are already available. The Digi EX12 will be available this summer.
