This cutting-edge solution, which represents a new generation of the connected car, offers great added value as it allows several users, simultaneously and from different mobile devices, to browse the internet, watch movies, listen to music, play online games and access GPS, among other functions, thanks to the connection offered by the car itself.
This innovative solution stems from merging Ficosa's Smart Antenna Module (SAM) with one of its 4G LTE connectivity telematics modules. The new product, called the Smart Connectivity Module (SCM), integrates the following functionalities into a single device: 4G internet connection, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, market-specific GPS positioning, analog radio (AM/FM), digital radio (DAB), and satellite radio (SDARS). It also incorporates the mandatory emergency call system in Europe (eCall) and in Russia (ERA-GLONASS), already present in Ficosa's existing telematics units. This service automatically alerts emergency services in the event of an accident. Furthermore, the platform is designed to integrate cutting-edge V2X technology, enabling vehicles to communicate with each other and with traffic infrastructure (traffic lights, parking facilities, highways, etc.).
The company, a pioneer in V2X systems, has already begun implementing this innovative system with some of its clients and will participate from mid-2015 in the European 3CCAR project for the development and improvement of vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure connectivity.
