Conventional quarter-turn locks can be unlocked completely without a key, using a special tool, or with a key. A round cylinder is generally used, although it is easier to manipulate. Combining the classic quarter-turn lock with a 40mm or 45mm profile half-cylinder increases the level of security. Furthermore, the new quarter-turn lock can be integrated into the key management system of a building's main locking system. The customer integrates the profiled half-cylinder and can, for example, operate all systems with a single master key.
The plastic handle opens and rotates 90° to open the cabinet. After opening, the key can be removed and used for other locks. To lock, simply return the handle to its original position and press to close; there's no need to use the key again. Another advantage of the new quarter-turn lock is its use of the universal door cutout from EMKA's 1000 series quarter-turn locking system. Even after installation, the classic quarter-turn locks on cabinets can be easily replaced. The replacement process takes only a few steps. EMKA's new locking solution has been tested against shock and vibration according to DIN EN 61373 Cat. 1B and meets the requirements of IP66 protection class. Thanks to the foam gasket, the new quarter-turn lock for profiled semi-cylinders is dustproof and offers maximum protection against powerful water jets.
