The MPC solution utilizes Molex's LFH™ stamped and formed contact system, ensuring a reliable electrical interface for multi-insertion applications. This cost-effective system features low insertion and extraction forces and a durability of 10,000 cycles. The simple push-pull locking mechanism is easy to use, even with surgical gloves. An optional locking sleeve is also available to ensure the cable's disconnection force meets the ANSI/AAMI-EC53 specification (>90 N); without this sleeve, the cable achieves a disconnection force of between 15 N and 20 N.
The contact interfaces (pin area) of the male and female connectors are factory sealed to prevent flux from entering the contact area during cable termination processes, as well as when used outdoors.
Four diameters are being developed to cover the full spectrum of applications in medical equipment: D1 (up to 8 contacts), D2 (up to 17 contacts), D3 (up to 35 contacts), and D4 (up to 59 contacts), plus four handling positions and six colors. Molex offers the option to select the number of pins with the diameter of each interface, allowing for flexible contact usage without wasted pins. Additionally, a splashproof sealing option with an IP64 protection rating is available.
