Special M12 connectors for the food industry
The need to easily and thoroughly remove dirt from components is a primary requirement in the packaging and F&B industry. This applies to contact areas, as well as wet and dry areas.
Motor connectors designed to meet continuous power demands up to 80 A in an outdoor environment at 260 °C, with a 20% gain in compact size.
Reliability and safety are increased, while costs are reduced thanks, among other factors, to the fact that weight savings directly impact fuel consumption. This is why Airbus, for example, replaced one of the A380's three hydraulic flight control systems with a hydroelectric network.
To support this technological revolution, its range of engine connectors, derived from the MIL-C-83723 standard and certified according to EN 2997 and ESC10 standards, has been expanded to include power connectors. The main technological challenge of this new development was adapting to high currents, high vibrations, and high ambient temperatures, as this connector must be capable of operating under the most extreme conditions: those found in aircraft engines.
To achieve this, a new contact technology has been implemented. This technology, using a clamp that optimizes the contact surface between the pin and socket, allows for continuous current handling up to 80 A in environments with temperatures up to 260 °C. It is also 20% smaller than a standard contact with equivalent performance.
This expanded range includes two new contact sizes that accept currents up to 60 A and 80 A. These contacts can be used in various EN 2997 connector configurations: 2, 4, and even 6 power contacts per connector for maximum density. Other developments derived from this technology have also been introduced, such as hermetically sealed power connectors with guaranteed leakage rates below 10⁻⁹ atm·cc/s.
