With the Modbus TCP Inspector function, a deep packet inspection tool for Modbus/TCP, you can precisely secure connections using this widely used industrial protocol. Access rights can now be set not only at the IP address and port level, but also on the function codes and registers used within the Modbus protocol. This allows you to specify, for example, which Modbus participants can only read values, or also write them. Furthermore, access rights can also be defined at the register level.
With DNS Name-Based Firewalling, firewall rules can be defined not only based on IP addresses but also on DNS names. This simplifies configuration in scenarios with dynamic IP addresses. The new mGuard firmware version 8.4 can be downloaded from the downloads section of the mGuard product pages.
