The new cable features 576 fibers in an 8.2 mm diameter, providing a fiber density of 10.9 fibers per mm², and can be installed in a 10 mm conduit. Sirocco Extreme microduct cables use 180µm BendBrightXS single-mode fiber (ITU-T G.657.D, G.657.A2) that is bend-insensitive and compatible for splicing with any standard fiber.

Available in fiber counts from 192 to 576 and compliant with international optical and mechanical performance standards, Sirocco Extreme cables benefit from Prysmian's PicoTube technology. This makes them up to 15% smaller than Prysmian's Sirocco HD microduct cables, the 200µm microduct cables that previously held the record. As a result, more fibers can be installed in a congested duct space, and smaller ducts can be used for new installations, reducing installation costs and the use of raw materials.
