The 45S allows two fibers to be loaded simultaneously. When the left and right fibers are placed in the base of the sheath clamp, the adjustment mechanism responds to the operator's finger pressure and automatically closes the sheath clamp covers, eliminating the need to manually close the clamps with the free hand. Once the splice is complete, the sheath clamps open with the wind guard.
The heater on this 45S also contributes to its accelerated performance. The average heating time for a 60mm sleeve is 22 seconds, which drops to 17 seconds for a 60mm slim sleeve (both times depend on ambient conditions). The long-life battery ensures uninterrupted operation for up to 230 splicing and heating cycles.
The features of the new model are supported by Fujikura's Active Blade Management Technology (ABMT), which ensures uniform, high-quality cuts, and Active Fusion Control Technology (AFCT), which analyzes the fiber end faces to provide optimal fusion control, reducing splice loss and the need to redo them.
Thanks to a larger Z-axis travel range, the 45S automatically corrects the fiber position if it is slightly misaligned, simplifying fiber loading while eliminating potential errors and contributing to low-loss results.
The 45S's compact, cube-shaped design takes up less space, making it easy to use in confined workspaces, and its movable LCD monitor ensures better visibility in all environments. The 45S will be available starting in November.
