Two of the newest features include an automatic windscreen and a tube heater developed for fast splicing cycles and reduced operating steps. The unit also includes a high-resolution LCD monitor, a Li-ion battery for extended runtime, and integrated videos for on-site training.

The 70S fusion splicer also features a redesigned case that doubles as a table to expedite splice preparation on the go. A work table is included in the standard package, a new feature for this device.
This is the second fusion splicer Fujikura has launched this year, following the announcement of the 12S, the world's smallest splicer designed specifically for installation in confined spaces.
