Versiv users report that the efficient and familiar interface reduces the costs of testing, certifying, and maintaining copper and fiber optic network installations by 65%.
The OptiFiber Pro OTDR is designed to meet the growing need for an OTDR capable of testing and documenting HDR applications and supporting long-distance and backhaul services in outside plant (OSP), peer-to-peer (P2P), passive optical (PON), and fiber-to-the-building (FTTP) installations. Three new single-mode modules handle 1490 nm, 1625 nm, and 1310/1550 nm combined with a dynamic range of up to 42 dB, enabling users to find more faults at greater distances.
“We’ve been using Versiv for a long time, and it’s reduced our certification costs,” said Chuck Ziegler, senior project manager at Fisk Electric, an electrical, security, and cabling contractor based in Houston, Texas. “Now we’ll be able to apply that same efficiency to our outside plant and FTTx jobs.”
The award-winning OptiFiber Pro interface has been enhanced with new features to support these applications, including automated splitter identification and an expert manual mode that allows users to optimize instrument performance by easily modifying the OTDR’s chosen automatic settings. This is in addition to groundbreaking features such as automatic setup, pinch-to-zoom trace analysis, and EventMap™ results interpretation. “EventMap easily identifies everything on the backbone; it’s a real time-saver,” added Mr. Ziegler.
Fluke Networks’ modular Versiv platform is the foundation of the OptiFiber Pro OTDR solution.
All Versiv models work with LinkWare PC reporting software and the LinkWare Live cloud-connected certification service. With over 14 million results uploaded to date, LinkWare Live is the industry-leading solution for automated setup and support for certification devices and cabling projects. “Our Versiv platform and OptiFiber Pro series OTDRs help turn novice installers into experts and produce experts faster,” said Harley Lang III, RCDD, director of marketing at Fluke Networks. “For businesses and organizations that install or own data communications networks, the OptiFiber Pro OTDR is a single certification tool they can rely on to more efficiently and quickly install, test, and certify a wide range of cabling installations.”
