Pastrana has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and joins Ciena bringing extensive knowledge of market trends.
José Manuel's addition to the Ciena team is the result of the acquisition, a year ago, of the optical network and Carrier Ethernet assets of Nortel Networks' Metro Ethernet Networks (MEN) business. Prior to joining the company, Pastrana spent three years as Account Director for Alternative Carriers in Spain at Nortel Networks, where he significantly exceeded the sales targets for the unit he led.
Pastrana led various areas of New Operators and Cable Operators within Nortel Networks for over fifteen years, heading business development and sales functions. His professional career also includes experience at companies such as Alcatel, Matra Communication, and Telettra in countries like France and Italy.
José Manuel Pastrana holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering and is a graduate of the IESE Management Development Program. In addition to Spanish, he is fluent in English, French, and Italian.
