“Karsten has made very significant contributions during his time at Vertiv, particularly in strengthening our EMEA region in a complex market environment,” said Giordano Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv. “His strong leadership and passion for growing our business and our team, along with his deep market knowledge and ability to build lasting customer relationships, have been fundamental to our success.”
Winther will continue in his current role until the end of 2025, supporting the regional transition process. During his time at Vertiv, he progressed from leading regional sales to executive leadership positions, driving business strategy, operational excellence, and profitability across the EMEA region.
Paul Ryan has more than 20 years of industry experience, including over eight years leading Vertiv’s global supply chain and procurement as Chief Procurement Officer and Vice President of Global Procurement/Supply Chain, where he led a significant procurement transformation, strengthening supply chain resilience and continuity, improving service levels, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. For more than 10 years, Ryan also held leadership roles for Emerson Network Power (now Vertiv) as Vice President of Operations for EMEA, Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific, and Vice President of Global Operations and Supply Chain for Data Center Solutions.
“Paul’s extensive experience in our industry and technologies, his commercial acumen, his proven track record in regional and global management, combined with his deep knowledge of global supply chain development and procurement, make him the ideal leader to further build upon the strong foundation established in our EMEA region,” said Albertazzi. “His internal promotion is a reflection of his impressive results and the drive of Vertiv’s high-performance culture. I am confident in his ability to further accelerate the region’s success and drive continued growth.”
Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Production Management from the University of Limerick and a Master of Science degree from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Limerick. He also completed the Executive Development Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Effective immediately, Patrick Grainey of Vertiv has been appointed interim chief procurement officer, reporting directly to Albertazzi. Grainey will serve in this capacity while the company actively begins the recruitment process to fill the position.
