The board of directors approved the change in early 2020 and the company arrived in Madrid just before the Covid-19 lockdown.

The company is currently a leading operator on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, where it has a strong presence. It has also begun providing service in other locations across Spain, in regions such as Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, the Canary Islands, and the Balearic Islands.

As a specialist in the so-called "emptied Spain," Avatel faced the increased demand for connectivity during the lockdown, generated both by the online work of regular residents and by the movement of thousands of people from large cities to their second homes to minimize risks in the pandemic.

The company closed 2019 after consolidating its position with the complete acquisition of HolaFibra, in which it already held a 50% stake. Furthermore, last December the company severed ties with one of its main shareholders of recent years, Andorra Telecom, by repurchasing its shares after two years of collaboration and joint work. This operation aimed to expedite the execution of its strategic plan.
