Interxion has also acquired land in Amsterdam and exercised its option to purchase the land for MAD3. All expansion projects will be financed through cash funds and existing credit lines.

“The accelerating pace of cloud adoption, coupled with the improving European economy, continues to drive demand for our colocation services across all our markets,” explains David Ruberg, CEO of Interxion. “With demand coming from multiple communities of interest, these investments will allow us to meet the needs of our growing customer base by adding approximately 15,500 square meters of technical space. Together with the expansions already announced, Interxion now has active expansion projects in all 11 countries where it operates, representing a total of more than 33,000 square meters, which will increase the company’s technical space by more than 25% compared to the third quarter of 2017.”

In Madrid, Interxion will build a third data center, MAD3, with 2,500 m2 of space and 5 MW of available power, in a single phase. Located next to Interxion's two existing data centers in Madrid, MAD3 will be built on land the company intends to purchase early this year. The new data center will be operational in the second quarter of 2019 and will be redundantly connected to Interxion's existing fiber ring, providing access to more than 80 carriers, ISPs, CDNs, and the ESpanix and DE-CIX exchange points. The investment associated with MAD3, including the land acquisition, will reach approximately €44 million.

In Amsterdam, Interxion will complete the remaining four phases of AMS8, which, once finished, will offer 5,300 square meters (m2) of technical space and 10 megawatts (MW) of available power for customer equipment. The first two phases are scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2018, and the final two in the first quarter of 2019. The investment in AMS8 will be approximately €63 million. In addition, Interxion has acquired an additional 22,000 m2 of land adjacent to AMS8, including the associated power capacity.

In Paris, Interxion will complete the PAR7.2 project by adding 2,000 m2 and 4 MW of power, as well as upgrading the existing electrical infrastructure at PAR7. The new space will be available in the first quarter of 2019. The investment associated with the Paris expansion is estimated at €44 million.

In Vienna, in addition to the 1,600 m2 currently under construction and scheduled to be operational in the third quarter of 2018, another 2,000 m2 will be added by the third quarter of 2019. The investment associated with this increase in capacity will be 40 million euros.

In Copenhagen, Interxion will expand CPH2 by 900 m2, which will be available in the second quarter of 2018, and another 600 m2 in the first quarter of 2019. This investment will be around 18 million euros.

In Stockholm, Interxion will expand STO5 in two phases, adding approximately 400 m2 in the second quarter of 2018 and 800 m2 in the first quarter of 2019. In this case, the investment will reach approximately 18 million euros.

In Brussels, Interxion will build BRU2, a new data center with 1,000 m² of technical space and 1 MW of available power. The new data center will be operational in the first quarter of 2018 and will connect directly via a dedicated fiber to the existing BRU1 data center, providing access to over 100 connectivity providers and the BNIX, NL-ix, AMS-IX, LINX, and DE-CIX exchange points. The investment associated with BRU2 will be approximately €3 million.
