This recent long-term railway communications infrastructure and maintenance contract with leading industry providers will allow Adif to reduce operating costs and ensure safe, fast and reliable rail services.
Nokia Networks will maintain the GSM-R* communications system, including transport and radio networks, video surveillance, centralized management and monitoring systems, and remote power supply systems. It will upgrade the GSM-R core network to provide network geo-redundancy and greater reliability. It will provide its GSM-R core network, user data management platform, One-NDS (network directory server), NT-HLR (proprietary position registration), and NetAct 8 network management system, and will provide professional services to ensure systems integration, full network operations and support, as well as remote management from the global distribution center to ensure the high quality of its services.
Siemens will maintain the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for the entire power grid** and fixed communications on the Madrid-Seville high-speed line. Siemens will upgrade the remote terminal units (RTUs) for the control of the power disconnectors.
