With Infinera's DTN-X platform, Colt can more efficiently meet the demand for high-capacity services in Europe. Infinera's Instant Bandwidth™ enables Colt to rapidly deliver 100G and 40G services to its providers and enterprise customers while providing highly flexible and reliable service.
Colt's European Supercore network, operated by Infinera DTN-X, enhances the profitability of Colt's existing long-distance network. The European Supercore network supports domestic and international services between European cities such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Zurich, Vienna, and Dublin. The solution supports up to eight terabits per second (Tb/s) of capacity, provides continuous service, and increases revenue in the high-bandwidth services market.
“Operators, cloud service providers, and enterprise customers know they can rely on Colt and our world-class infrastructure to deliver and manage reliable services, allowing them to focus on their priorities. This network upgrade is the latest in a series of investments in our network and will enable Colt to rapidly deliver high-bandwidth services to our customers in Europe. The Infinera platform allows us to scale the network as customer demand increases, giving Colt the flexibility it needs to effectively support our customers,” announced Zhongmin Guo, VP of Strategic and Business Development, Network Services at Colt Technology Services.
“We are grateful that Infinera’s intelligent transit network is powering Colt’s Supercore European network and increasing the benefits of LDN services between major European cities,” said Chris Champion, Senior Vice President, EMEA. “Infinera is committed to continuing to provide Colt with a solution that automates, converges, and simplifies its optimal transit network to reliably deliver advanced services to its customers.”.
Today, Infinera's DTN-X platform delivers 100 Gb/s coherent throughput across 500 Gb/s superchannels, with a scalable design to support terabit superchannels in the future. These high-capacity superchannels are enabled by 500 Gb/s photonic integrated circuits (PICs), developed and manufactured by Infinera, the only vendor to date providing 500 Gb/s throughput from a single network card. The PICs are designed to allow the DTN-X platform to integrate dense, wavelength-division multiplexed superchannel transmission with up to 12 Tb/s of non-blocking optical transport network switching, providing easy scalability as traffic demands increase over time.
