“Eliot” is a combination of the words Electricity and IoT (Internet of Things). The term 'connected devices' or Internet of Things is used to refer to objects whose internet connection provides added value in terms of operation, information, use, or interaction with the environment.
According to Francisco Muñoz, Marketing Director of Legrand Group Spain, the multinational achieved sales of over €300 million in 2015 with its connected device offerings. He also highlighted the interoperability of these products with various protocols such as ZigBee 3.0, SIGFOX, THREAD Group, and ALISEEN ALLIANCE. Legrand participates in 15 associations for the development of IoT protocols. He also mentioned that Legrand's goal is for connected devices to account for 15% of its total revenue by 2020.
With the Eliot program, Legrand is accelerating the development of its connected solutions to benefit both private and professional users. Each year, the company dedicates a percentage of its sales to research and development, creating connectable solutions that address diverse social demands related to energy efficiency, security, well-being, and independent living.
In line with its commitment to "design for all," Legrand devices are highly intuitive and characterized by their simplicity, ease of use, and ease of installation. Furthermore, the company is innovating not only to add connected interfaces to its existing product range but also to develop natively connected devices.
Transforming any home into a smart home, providing security for people with disabilities, receiving remote information, interacting with visitors, measuring and controlling energy consumption, and avoiding the inconveniences of unexpected power outages are now realities with the Eliot program.
Among the recently launched and upcoming products are home automation devices (MyHome Domotique) with devices connected to the phone, such as the new Classe 300X13E video doorbell, Eco-meter consumption measurement equipment for measurement and visualization via Smartphone (aimed at small businesses and homes), connected power outlets with remote control and management, connected doorbells, monitoring of people through sensors, etc.
The event was attended by Pascal Decons, the new Managing Director of Legrand Group Spain, who stated that "Buildings are at the heart of the Internet of Things revolution," and Francisco Muñoz, Marketing Director of Legrand Group Spain.
During the press conference, a demonstration of the Eliot program was given, including a live test with Legrand IoT solutions. The company also unveiled its first product to incorporate the innovative program: the new video intercom.
