With over $20 million in annual sales and 250,000 licenses sold in 2008, Axxon is, according to the latest report from the consulting firm IMS Research, the leading European company and the fifth largest worldwide in sales of this type of software.
Axxon's international business consolidation hinges on the launch of its two flagship products: Axxon SMART PRO and Axxon INTELLECT ENTERPRISE. Both software solutions are used to manage surveillance cameras, display their images on monitors, transmit them to remote control centers, and store them in compliance with European data protection regulations. SMART PRO is designed for small and medium-sized business clients who want to view, record, and transmit images from their surveillance cameras. And, in the case of cash registers in restaurants, hotels, shops, etc., the content of sales receipts can be overlaid on the transaction images for later verification. A unique feature of Axxon is that its products work seamlessly with both conventional (analog) and state-of-the-art (digital, IP, and megapixel) cameras.
In contrast, INTELLECT ENTERPRISE is designed to manage security systems where, in addition to the functions offered by SMART PRO, sophisticated technologies are required, such as license plate recognition in parking lots, facial recognition for accessing restricted areas of buildings, and connection to alarm receiving centers, fire detection systems, and more. INTELLECT ENTERPRISE is one of the only systems in the world capable of controlling thousands of cameras.
According to Carlos Ángeles, Axxon's EMEA Director, “The current physical security market demands a combination of surveillance, intruder detection, and fire detection cameras with other sophisticated systems, such as facial recognition, license plate reading, and intelligent video analytics. Axxon's software allows users to control all these components from a single screen, making it easy for any user to operate. The more complex and comprehensive the security system, the more valuable it is to have everything just a click away.”
Luis Coello, Axxon's commercial director, adds that “Axxon already has clients in Europe, such as Ikea, Carrefour, the Rome Metro, and the Science Museum in Valencia. However, our flagship client is the city of Moscow, where Axxon currently manages more than 80,000 cameras that enhance road and public safety. Only a couple of companies worldwide would be capable of successfully installing such an extensive and distributed system. And let's not forget that the infrastructure in emerging countries is very limited compared to what is available in Western Europe.”
