The unit will provide the infrastructure for all companies that need secure NFC-based mobile payment solutions, including banks, telecommunications operators, and public transportation providers.
The new data center, part of the €3.5 million investment in Brazil, will allow Morpho customers to accelerate the implementation and operation of projects using TSM technology. This will transform the user's mobile phone into a true electronic wallet with various payment and access functions. In case of loss or theft of a mobile device, the user only needs to call a phone number to have all data immediately transferred to another chip, thus preventing the misuse of stored information.
A local TSM data center offers significant advantages: in addition to local service, it provides high-availability servers, face-to-face support in Portuguese and Spanish, and, specifically in Brazil, the guarantee that customer data remains within the country, which is often a key customer requirement.
Paolo Villasco, Senior Vice President of Morpho's e-Documents division in the Americas, states: "The new Data Center is a perfect example of Morpho's strategy of combining its global expertise in innovation and cutting-edge technology with local, customized services. The data center is ready for large-scale production projects during the second half of 2013. Our plan is to build additional Data Centers in Latin America as demand justifies the investments."
