The ATR4253 integrated circuit is considered the smallest active integrated circuit antenna on the market. It allows designers to develop high-performance solutions with the antenna located in car mirrors, bumpers, or side windows. The antenna's sensing functionality is also ideal for window or glass antennas and allows for integration into other highly robust types, such as shark fin antennas.
The ATR4253 offers maximum noise performance and excellent linearity. Due to its impressive noise level, the ATR4253 can also be used as a preamplifier for car radios or navigation applications requiring FM-RDS information. Like its predecessors, the Atmel ATR4251 and ATR4252l, the new device enables crystal-clear, distortion-free reception even under the extreme and rapidly changing conditions found in mobile systems.
The device is equipped with a wide range of features, including voltage regulation (an important function when using an unregulated phantom power supply), ESD protection, excellent system performance, and an ambient temperature capability of up to 115°C. Furthermore, the AGC prevents problems with larger signals while maintaining a high level of sensitivity.
