The Vertiv Liebert EFC combines the capabilities of indirect air-to-air heat exchange and evaporative cooling in a single unit. The innovative, patented polymer heat exchanger and new low-GWP inverter compressor technology significantly improve annual efficiency—up to 19% compared to previous technologies—providing a partial power usage effectiveness (pPUE) of just 1.05.

One of the key benefits of the Liebert® EFC is its extreme flexibility. Depending on the specific site conditions, the live control switching feature allows users to smoothly and safely reduce the use of critical resources, such as power or water, via software controls, to take advantage of free cooling mode. This flexibility enables data center operators to reduce their environmental impact while enabling continuous cooling, regardless of the facility's available resources. Models with direct expansion (DX) backup units and a remote condenser are also available, capable of providing full cooling capacity without any water requirements, offering complete independence from the water supply without impacting reliability.

The new Liebert EFC complies with current global regulations and requirements (EU F-Gas Directive 2024/573 and IPCC AR4), offering a pre-configured solution designed for future scalability, easy maintenance, and durability. Its polymer-based construction provides greater corrosion resistance and accommodates a wider range of water qualities during operation compared to an aluminum heat exchanger. At the heart of this cutting-edge solution is Vertiv™ Liebert® iCOM™ technology and its control algorithms, which manage automatic transitions between the most suitable operating modes, enabling the use of the preferred cooling source. The controls also allow for seamless coordination of the units, facilitating operation as a unified system, improving cooling continuity and reliability without the need for an additional plant management system.
