SNAKECAM-pro-wThese openings are quite harsh, requiring the camera to have adequate protection. Perhaps the most critical aspect is ensuring the guide cable that pushes the camera through the opening is both strong enough to hold it firmly in place and flexible enough to withstand bends and twists. This is achieved with a specially treated fiberglass cable that can withstand twisting and bending without losing its strength.
SNAKE CAM systems all consist of a standard-resolution camera with special protection, a fiber optic video cable of varying lengths (depending on the model), and a 7" monitor, all housed in a shockproof and waterproof carrying case that includes rechargeable Li-ion batteries so the system can operate autonomously anywhere.
The camera is encased in a waterproof stainless steel head with a special sapphire crystal lens. Around the camera, a set of white LEDs with variable intensity, controllable from the case itself, provides adjustable illumination. To facilitate rotation, the camera head ends in a flexible gooseneck that allows it to be inserted into even the most remote locations.
They include a DVR with SD card or external USB drive capabilities, allowing video recording and the addition of audio commentary via the built-in audio input, as well as high-quality photos that can be transferred to a PC for quick report generation.
The 7" TFT monitor features sun visors, variable brightness, and a resolution of 960p. 320 x 320 pixels.
The SNAKE CAM 2 and 3 models have a 22mm diameter camera and 5.2mm fiberglass, with lengths of 20 meters for model 2 and 40 meters for model 3. The superior PRO model, on the other hand, has a 50mm diameter camera and a 9mm fiberglass section, due to its 120m length. It comes with a reel holder for handling and storing the guide fiber. This PRO model also incorporates a digital meter counter that, with an accuracy of 0.1m, indicates the distance from the guide at any given time.
