This development marks a “first-time-right” success, leveraging X-FAB’s custom 180nm XP018 platform to deliver a secure and traceable European ecosystem that protects IoT devices against cyberattacks, in line with the upcoming European Cyber Resilience Regulation (CRA), which will be mandatory from December 11, 2027.
The CyberRock SGT1001 token is the fundamental trust anchor of SandGrain's CyberRock hybrid solution. By combining secure silicon tokens with a robust cloud SaaS platform powered by advanced security HSMs, the flagship CyberRock solution delivers streamlined end-to-end provisioning and certificateless, post-quantum-ready protection for connected devices. This unique hardware and software integration positions SandGrain at the forefront of scalable, standards-compliant IoT security.
Designed to address the growing security challenges in the industrial IoT and critical infrastructures globally, the integration of SandGrain's authentication technology with X-FAB's robust manufacturing capabilities enables rapid time to market, while ensuring regulatory compliance for next-generation automotive markets.
The XP018 platform is a 180nm high-voltage modular CMOS technology that supports an extended temperature range of -40 to 175°C. It offers a broad portfolio of devices, including high-gain bipolar components, capacitors, and a comprehensive set of design IPs, such as automotive-grade non-volatile memory solutions. This technological modularity, device and IP availability, along with customization options, makes it ideal for cost-sensitive industrial and medical applications.
This announcement builds on SandGrain’s recent €13.5 million Series A funding round (announced on December 9, 2025), highlighting the importance of European supply chain sovereignty in the face of rising cyber threats, the constant drive for innovation, and rapid time to market. Reliability testing was successfully completed in January 2026, ensuring product lifecycle performance, which was the final step before its official launch.
“SandGrain was looking for a secure, recognized, and fully traceable European ecosystem for the development of the CyberRock token, and we are delighted with X-FAB’s support from day one,” said Antoine Leclercq, Chief Operating Officer of SandGrain. “This strong collaboration has enabled reliable and secure market readiness, and we are excited about the product launch and the protection of connected electronics in Europe and other regions of the world.”
“X-FAB is proud to collaborate with innovative startups like SandGrain to drive technological advancements,” said Joerg Doblaski, Business Unit Manager Smart CMOS & SOI at X-FAB. “Our excellent design support and ability to customize open platform technologies, such as our XP018, have enabled this first-time success and a rapid time to market within a robust European ecosystem.”
