The HDDs feature an industry-leading design, with nine helium-sealed platters and either 14TB or 12TB of conventional magnetic recording (CMR) capacity for optimal compatibility. Toshiba's helium-sealed design fits industry-standard 3.5-inch drive bays.
The innovative 9-disk helium-sealed design utilizes Toshiba's precision laser welding process and a special top-cover design that seals the helium inside the disk, delivering high capacity and a low power profile. The SAS interface provides 12 Gbps transfer speeds and dual-port capability for data path redundancy, a feature favored by many storage solution designers. The 14TB SAS model offers approximately a 40% increase in maximum capacity compared to Toshiba's previous 10TB MG06 SAS models.
