The new base station aims to enable operators to deliver bandwidth-intensive services such as streaming television (e.g., Netflix), gaming, and online applications for residential customers. The new JET AIR will be available starting in January 2017.
This new solution from RADWIN joins the manufacturer's radio portfolio that operates in the unlicensed 5 GHz band, which also includes the JET PRO base station, also with beamforming technology, but which provides a speed of 750 Mbps and is designed for service providers oriented to both the domestic and business markets, under SLA commitments.
RADWIN's unique bidirectional beamforming technology provides a highly valued additional benefit: immunity to uplink interference. Furthermore, it offers greater range and capacity in the downlink sector, as well as improved spectrum efficiency.
As an integral part of the new offering, RADWIN is also launching two new Subscriber Units (SUs) that provide speeds up to 100 Mbps: SU AIR for residential users and SU PRO, a hybrid unit for both residential and business users, which follow the same naming convention as their respective base stations.
The new IP67-rated Subscriber Units support up to 256 QAM and are equipped with the WINTouch application tool, which automates installation and alignment, significantly shortening the installation process. The TurboGain Slide-on antenna, which doubles the service range for the new Subscriber Units, will also be available.
Regarding this new launch, Roni Weinberg, EVP of Global Business and COO of RADWIN, stated the following. “RADWIN is a dominant player in the telecommunications market, and our radios have been deployed worldwide by top-tier operators. With the latest version of the JET AIR device and the new AIR Subscriber Unit, we aim to bring our carrier-class solution with bidirectional beamforming to the residential market. The new JET AIR radios address the needs of service providers looking to offer more broadband services to homes. Service providers are showing great willingness to adopt the new JET AIR platform and benefit from RADWIN’s strong reputation in the residential market.”
