Quantis has already supplied six mobile units to regional and local television stations and production companies in Barcelona, Girona, San Sebastián, Gijón, Palma de Mallorca, and Madrid. The systems include a small, self-steering antenna, modem, and codecs. Thanks to the equipment's compact size and low power consumption, it's possible to house the link and contribution systems, as well as the editing systems, in a single mobile unit, eliminating the need for a second mobile unit typically required with traditional Ku-band systems.
"Because these are compact systems," explains Joan Mir, Media & Broadcast Sales Director at Quantis, "mobile units can be created in all types of vehicles, from a family car to a customized truck, at a cost ranging from €15,000 to €40,000." In this regard, Quantis's offering includes flyaway (portable) units that fit in a suitcase and allow the link to be deployed anywhere, no matter how difficult the access. These systems include a small, self-pointing antenna, a modem, codecs, and can all be battery-powered and configured and managed using a smartphone.
The solution is completed with signal transmission, where Quantis offers various bandwidth and subscription options. The minimum package for SD broadcasts in H.264 format, with a bandwidth of 4 Mbps, is 15 minutes, costing €22.50. The HD broadcast option, with a bandwidth of 8 Mbps, costs €45 for 15 minutes.
