The excellent standard specifications allow these new sources to be used without the need for additional options in a wide range of different applications and offer outstanding performance at a very attractive price. For example, the actual DSG 815 (1.5 GHz) model is priced at only €1880 net and includes superior specifications such as amplitude accuracy <0.5 dB (typical), a maximum output power of +20 dBm, as well as high signal purity and low phase noise <-112 dBc/Hz @ 20 kHz. Other features include <2 ppm frequency stability and standard AM/FM/ΦM modulation with a frequency resolution of 0.01 Hz. Internal or external modulation capability is available for all modulation types. The devices have standard USB and LAN remote control interfaces and support SCPI control.
Three options are available to enhance the stability and functionality of the signal generators. The highly stable Option OCXO-A08 oscillator (oven oscillator) improves the internal clock temperature stability from 2 ppm to 5 ppb. Additionally, the Pulse Train Generator (PUG-DSG800) and Pulse Modulation (PUM-DSG800) options are available. The DSG800's pulse options allow for the output of a predefined or self-defined pulse sequence or the output of pulse-modulated signals.
The new DSG821 and DSG821 (A) models, as well as the DSG836 and DSG836 (A), are a perfect extension of Rigol's existing RF generator family and complete the company's overall portfolio.
With their good basic configuration, excellent specifications and high flexibility along with Rigol's excellent price/performance ratio, the new generators are a very good alternative to the sources currently available on the market in the same performance range.
