High performance with the new X-Stream II architecture.
The high performance of the new X-Stream II architecture, exclusive to Lecroy, in the WavePro 7 Zi makes its large memory depth a pleasure to use. This architecture utilizes variable-length waveform segments to improve the efficiency of your internal computer's cache memory. Traditional digital oscilloscopes that process full waveforms suffer performance limitations due to their simplistic architectures that don't account for the limitations of their internal processors. As a result, Lecroy's WavePro 7 Zi series oscilloscopes are 10 to 20 times faster at processing long captures compared to other oscilloscopes. The X-Stream II architecture is supported by an Intel® Core™ 2 Quad processor, high-speed buses, a 64-bit operating system, and up to 8 GB of RAM, making the equipment unique for in-depth analysis of long acquisitions. The X-Stream II architecture allows engineers to be more productive and efficient by providing clear insights into anomalous behavior in complex waveforms.
Extremely high data transfer speeds
LeCroy's LSIB solution enables direct connection to the oscilloscope's high-speed PCI Express x4 bus, allowing data transfer rates of up to 500 Mpts/s. LSIB is faster than the GPIB bus with typical data transfer rates of ~1 Mpts/s; 100BaseT Ethernet (LAN) with data transfer rates up to 10 Mpts/s; or 1000BaseT Gigabit Ethernet with rates of 22 Mpts/s. All that is required is the installation of the optional LSIB card in the oscilloscope and the corresponding card in the remote computer. Data transfer is easily enabled via the supplied programming interface (API).
Designed for excellence,
the ability to capture millions of measurements in short periods, intuitive analysis for detecting signal anomalies, and reduced anomaly detection times greatly increase error-free tuning. The WavePro 7 Zi incorporates new tools, such as TriggerScan™, and new capabilities, including 200ps SMART pulse-width triggering and high-speed 80-bit/3.125 Gb/s serial pattern triggering, to assist design engineers in tuning. Additionally, tools already available on other Lecroy oscilloscopes, such as WaveStream™ display mode, the advanced WaveScan™ search and analysis tool, triggering and decoding for low-speed serial buses (I2C, SPI, UART-RS232, CAN, LIN, and FlexRay), and MS-250 and MS-500 4+36 mixed input options, are now available on the new WavePro 7 Zi series. With a frequency range from 1.5 to 6 GHz, the current capabilities of the WavePro 7 Zi are simply unavailable on any other oscilloscope on the market.
TriggerScan detects more anomalies per second
TriggerScan detects and captures more anomalies per second than tools that use high-speed hardware triggering to detect unwanted behavior, then displays them on screen in persistence mode for analysis and further action. TriggerScan captures only the signals of interest and provides answers in minutes instead of hours. Furthermore, it exhibits very little degradation in detection and capture performance at high sampling rates or during very long acquisitions. TriggerScan is easy to set up – you can run predefined or user-defined modes for Edge, SMART, and serial patterns (up to 100). TriggerScan quickly scans through different triggering and capture conditions and displays all anomalous signals that meet the required triggering condition(s). Because hardware triggering is used only to capture anomalies, TriggerScan is more effective at locating faults faster than traditional oscilloscopes. Furthermore, TriggerScan is effective even during longer acquisitions, allowing signals with complex triggering patterns and related events to be captured earlier. This
leads to a better understanding of the relationships between events and faster debugging.
Once a rare event or unwanted behavior is detected, its relationship to other events must be established. The WavePro 7 Zi makes this easy. The WavePro 7 Zi features 50 W and 1 MW inputs from 1.5 to 6 GHz, and the 4 to 6 GHz units have both ProBus and ProLink inputs (switchable, with one input active at any given time). This is a significant advantage for design engineers who need to test a wide variety of high- and low-speed signals. No 1 MW adapters are required at the input for connecting passive probes for simple measurements, and, of course, it supports the full range of Lecroy probes and accessories (current probes, differential probes, high-voltage probes, etc.).
Maximum flexibility and more powerful tools
LeCroy is known for its advanced tools for in-depth signal analysis. Continuing this tradition, the WavePro 7 Zi offers more measurements, mathematical functions, statistical analyses, visualizations, frequency analysis, masks, and other tools as standard for faster results. The WavePro 7 Zi includes the following tools:
Integrated Web Editor Software – a graphical environment for easily and intuitively creating powerful chained mathematical functions or complex measurement calculations.
FFT analysis up to 50Mpts – achieving the highest frequency resolution, allowing for deeper analysis in the frequency domain.
Mathematical parameters – addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of any two standard or user-defined parameters.
Eight simultaneous on-screen mathematical functions and zooms, including the ability to perform dual mathematical functions.
WPZi-SPECTRUM – provides the additional capability of measuring power density through real, imaginary, and quadratic FFTs. It handles parameters as in a typical spectrum analyzer (RBW, SPAN, center frequency, etc.).
LeCroy's traditional tools, such as evolution plots, histograms, and digital filters, are also available as an option for the WavePro 7 Zi. These tools are notable for their ability to be flexibly applied to a wide variety of parameters and waveforms (rather than being restricted to special packages, as is the case with many competing offerings), providing unlimited capacity for use even in long captures.
Advanced user-defined customization:
LeCroy has taken a new, fully integrated approach to oscilloscope customization. For example, a user might want to perform an inverse FFT. This capability is not currently available on oscilloscopes but is available through MATLAB as a predefined function. A MATLAB script could be written or modified within an oscilloscope dialog box, and the oscilloscope application would execute the complete application and call the specified function(s). The result is displayed as a mathematical signal on the oscilloscope or as a parameter in tabular format, and the result can be reused like any other waveform.
mounted
on top of the oscilloscope, allowing you to view LabNotebook, Processing Web Editor, or any other third-party program (Excel, Word, MATLAB, Simulink, etc.) simultaneously with the signal on the oscilloscope screen. This significantly improves the user experience and ensures efficient analysis by simplifying adjustments. Furthermore, the WavePro 7 Zi's front panel can be detached from the oscilloscope's mainframe. The front panel connects to the oscilloscope's mainframe via USB, allowing the front panel to be located close to the device being tested and increasing efficiency during measurement.
Serial data analyzers. New cable compensation technology
The SDA 7 Zi series data analyzers are based on the WavePro 7 Zi series oscilloscopes but come standard with twice the memory to capture more unit intervals in the eye pattern and high-speed serial pattern-based triggering with up to 80 different patterns at speeds up to 3.125 Gb/s on the 4 and 6 GHz models. Cable length effects can cause distortion in serial data signal measurements. With new cable compensation technology, these distortion effects are eliminated. Another new analysis feature, IsoBER, plots constant bit error rate (BER) lines directly onto the acquired eye pattern. Designers can now determine the receiver's sampling range directly on the eye pattern and see the direct correlation between sampling range and BER. These innovations come standard on the new SDA 7 Zi analyzers, including the unique and announced simultaneous on-screen display of eye diagram, time interval error, jitter histogram, and "bathtub" curve. LeCroy serial data analyzers are designed to perform conformance testing of Ethernet, USB, PCI Express, Serial ATA, UWB, and HDMI, as well as for tuning and validating new designs.
Modules and probes add capabilities to the WaveLink family. Precise jitter measurements:
LeCroy adds four new high-performance probes to the already popular WaveLink probe family. The new amplifiers stand out for their excellent performance and low noise, which is essential for making accurate jitter measurements and other signal integrity measurements. The high DC content makes them ideal for many serial data and memory applications such as PCI-Express, FireWire, and DDR. With ±4V compensation capability and ±3V common-mode control, the WaveLink probes are designed for multipurpose applications for single terminations (such as DDR memory) and serial data applications (such as HDMI). LeCroy has also added a new small-form-factor probe that allows for easier handling on the device. test.
