The CommScope Wireless Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) is a semi-permanent, mobile, temporary solution for mobile carriers, telecom companies, cable operators, utilities, and government agencies.
The RDU is a compact unit built on a fully welded aluminum chassis. It is forklift-ready and can be easily transported (24 units per 48" flatbed) and then towed to the site. Jacks are included for leveling the unit for operation. One or two workers can fully deploy it and connect users in under 60 minutes.
The wireless RDU is designed to simplify deployments and eliminate the need for different platforms to meet varying requirements. It supports AC power and comes with an onboard gas generator and fuel tank to support up to 80 hours of uninterrupted operation. A solar power option is also available. A UPS backup battery is included to ensure continuous operation.
User connectivity options include PoE-powered RUCKUS Wi-Fi access points and CBRS/small cell radios. PoE-powered IoT devices, such as cameras, are also supported.
The RDU's extendable mast has a wind resistance of 128 km/h and can be extended by another 23 km/h with up to four devices weighing up to 45 kg. Network connectivity is supported via hybrid fiber cable, fiber, or microwave backhaul.
The unit is built for easy field maintenance and repair, incorporating readily available components. Optionally, it can be customized with branded graphics promoting a service provider, event, or other identity. Other configurations will be considered.
