By integrating power and data lines into a single M12 connector, the Micro-Change CHT saves space and reduces installation and wiring costs in industrial, process control and automation applications, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) control systems, telecommunications infrastructure, vision systems and surveillance cameras, military applications, aeronautics and non-motorized transport equipment.

Based on the robust design of the Brad Micro-Change M12 screw-on connector, the Micro-Change CHT connector features two shielded, twisted-pair Category 5e data lines and two or four contacts capable of carrying currents up to 10 A. It is overmolded to ensure a complete seal compliant with the IP67 standard and reliable strain relief. Thanks to the fully shielded four-contact array with a metal wrap-around tube (patent pending), perfect signal integrity and optimal performance are achieved; the two overlapping tubes channel the signal through the connector without interference from crosstalk or electromagnetic interference (EMI).

The Micro-Change CHT's 4+2 and 4+4 configurations are already available in the M12 threaded connector format, but plans are underway to expand the design to include Ultra-Lock®, M16, and M23 connector formats. Ted Szarkowski, Molex's global integrated and industrial product manager, explains: “Because Molex's unique shielding concept for the Micro-Change CHT connector is not limited to the M12 format, we are able to adapt the technology to meet specific customer needs and requirements.”
