For mounting these miniaturized SFP (Small Form Factor Pluggable) modules with reliable contacts, Suyin now offers extremely robust, simple, and quick-to-mount SFP connectors in single and quad versions. Suyin's pluggable positions are fully compliant with the MSA (Multi-Source Agreement). By adhering to the MSA, all transceiver manufacturers have committed themselves to binding and detailed agreements regarding physical, electrical, and optical specifications, thus ensuring interoperability and universal compatibility. These specifications are defined in different standards: SFF-8432 (housing), SFF-8083 (connection interface and performance), and SFF-8431 (electrical interface).


The Suyin right-angle SMT SFP/SMA connector consists of a backplate with a 20-pin surface-mount contact unit, a UL94 V-0 compliant high-temperature resistant plastic insulating cover, and a robust housing. The backplate and housing are joined together with a high-strength positive latch using a patented snap-on mechanical "crocodile" connection. The housing itself is securely mounted to the printed circuit board via eight partially reinforced (and patented) push-in connections. Thanks to the patented housing design, there is no distortion of the profile, even after 1,000 connection cycles. For a front-panel LED signal indicator, both the single and quad versions can be fitted with LED tubes in just three simple steps. The electrical contacts are made of a copper alloy and are rated for 250 connection cycles. Its maximum insertion and extraction forces are specified at 40 N and 11.5 N respectively, the maximum contact resistance at 20 mΩ, and the maximum insulator resistance at 500 mΩ. The SFP/MSA-compliant design of this connector allows for hot-swapping of all types of transmission media. For the single-port version, the mechanical dimensions are 48.73 mm x 14.5 mm x 9.45 mm (L x W x H), and for the quad-port version, 49.00 mm x 56.75 mm x 9.8 mm (L x W x H). These SFP/SMA connectors in single and quad-port versions are available immediately in sample quantities.
