According to this year's (2017-2022) Cisco VNI Mobile forecast update, mobile traffic is poised to reach one zettabyte annually by the end of the forecast period. By 2022, mobile traffic will account for nearly 20% of global IP traffic, reaching 930 exabytes annually. This is almost 113 times the total global mobile traffic generated just ten years earlier, in 2012.

A year later, the Charter of Trust has grown to 16 members. In addition to Siemens and the Munich Security Conference, the members are AES, Airbus, Allianz, Atos, Cisco, Daimler, Dell Technologies, Deutsche Telekom, Enel, IBM, NXP, SGS, Total, and TÜV Süd. Now, the Charter of Trust welcomes two government authorities as associate members for the first time: Spain's National Cryptologic Center (CCN) and the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), one of the most important institutions for cybersecurity experts.

Entrepreneurs from Madrid have launched Redexia, the first national LoRaWAN network in Spain dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT). While most countries have one or more national LoRa networks, Spain did not yet have a nationwide LoRa network.
